Walk to Englishcombe
Submitted by Simon on 24 October 2009 - 12:04pm
Burn off those Christmas calories with a refreshing walk from Roundhill to the 14th century tithe barn at Englishcombe. The tithe barn has been fully restored by English Heritage and has fascinating historical markings etched on its walls. In the barn we will enjoy some coffee and mince pies before beginning the return walk to Roundhill.
Carol Singing
Submitted by Simon on 18 October 2009 - 11:44amCome and join us on Saturday 12th December at 3.00pm for Carol Singing on the Roundhill.

We will gather by the shelter behind the children's play area. We are in the process of rounding up some musicians (any volunteers?) and are also trying to arrange some refreshments.
See you there!!
Roundhill from a distance
Submitted by Simon on 17 October 2009 - 8:47amI went for a walk last Saturday, from Roundhill to Englishcombe then on to Inglesbatch and Nailwell. As I returned I skirted the edges of West Wood, Middle Wood and Breach Wood. A wrong turn took me a section of the Wansdyke now marked out by a cow trail that is visible from the top of Roundhill.
I took these (and many others!) along the way.

Bat Walk
Submitted by Simon on 26 September 2009 - 12:56pmOn Thursday evening, 24th September, the ‘Friends of Roundhill’ group organised a guided Bat Walk with the help of Miriam Woolnough, Countryside Management Officer for Bath and North East Somerset Council.
Report by Wendy Long, Photo by Joe Scofield

Miriam started off by giving a brief talk about the type of bats we might see and their preferred habitat. She was able to share amongst the group a number of Bat Detectors that she had brought along with her.
