The RSPB are holding a Nature Count event between Saturday 5th and Sunday 13th June.  The idea is to spend an hour recording all the wildlife (birds and mammals) you see in your garden or local park.  Why not find an hour to spend on the Roundhill, recording what you see?

We held our first Litter Pick last Sunday, prompted by a suggestion from a visitor to this site. A dozen volunteers gather by the play area on a slightly drizzly afternoon to be armed with gloves, bin liners, doggy bags and litter pickers. (The hi-vis yellow jackets were declined!) We spread out across the Roundhill to clear rubbish from the play area, field, hedges and undergrowth.

These slides were prepared for the Southdown PACT (Partners and Community Together) meeting, held at St Barnabas Church Hall last Wednesday.

I took these on Saturday, to prepare a poster for the Litter Pick on 25th April. I was particularly chuffed with the one of the bird (yellow wagtail?), who sat very cooperatively framed by the plastic caught in the tree just long enough for me to snap him before my sons scared him off.

British Summer Time is upon us and it's time to start thinking about preparing for the Big Lunch 2010.

Last year's event was unfortunately a bit of a washout, but we've booked better weather this time around! We're looking forward to a great day out for all the community and we're already trying to round up jugglers, musicians, face painters etc. If you or someone you know would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

We will be holding an event on 25th April to clear litter from the Roundhill. Come along to help us clear the hedges, play area, field and the hill itself of as much rubbish as possible. Join us at 3pm by the play area.

Please bring gloves. Bin bags and some litter picking kit will be provided.
