Jubilee Beacon

This year, The Queen will celebrate 60 years on the throne. And to celebrate this very special landmark, a network of beacons is being lit, not just in the UK, but throughout the Commonwealth.

Your local Scout Group - 31st Bath Scouts, who meet at St. Barnabas Church in Southdown - have arranged for one of these beacons to be lit right here in Bath.
Southdown Roundhill, with fantastic views over the city, will be the location for one of over 3,000 beacons being lit throughout the world, and we would like to invite you to join in with this very special celebration. The event will start at 8pm, with the beacon being lit at around 10pm.
See the 31st Bath Scouts and National Jubilee Beacons sites for more details.

Behind the scenes...
Submitted by Simon on 30 September 2011 - 8:37pmIt's been very quiet here on the website and on the Events front over the past few months, but there have been a number of activities progressing unseen in the background.
Firstly we've been considering various options for interpretative signs to provide information about the Roundhill. Joe has done some fantastic research on the history of the hill and the surrounding landscape - click the image to view the full detail. We are working with the council to agree on the type of sign and arrange production and installation.
