Stargazing on Roundhill
Submitted by Simon on 10 March 2011 - 9:23pmWalk to the disappeared village
Submitted by Simon on 29 January 2011 - 1:34pmJust over a dozen of us set out in the cold this morning to discover the disappeared village of Barewe in the fields across the valley from Culverhay school. Joe did a great job leading the walk, sharing his research on local history as we came to various notable points along the way. It was also great to hear the local memories of the other walkers.
Roundhill in the snow
Submitted by Simon on 18 December 2010 - 2:51pmI took these earlier today after last night's snow. Roundhill is busier in the snow than at any other time! Plenty of people out sledging today, but also great to enjoy the beauty of the white stuff...
Species on Roundhill
Submitted by Simon on 18 November 2010 - 7:31pmFollowing on from the Survey by Avon Wildlife Trust, I have trawled the internet for some pictures of the species they identified:
Litter Pick
Submitted by Simon on 29 April 2010 - 6:37pmWe held our first Litter Pick last Sunday, prompted by a suggestion from a visitor to this site. A dozen volunteers gather by the play area on a slightly drizzly afternoon to be armed with gloves, bin liners, doggy bags and litter pickers. (The hi-vis yellow jackets were declined!) We spread out across the Roundhill to clear rubbish from the play area, field, hedges and undergrowth.

Litter on Roundhill
Submitted by Simon on 29 March 2010 - 9:05pmI took these on Saturday, to prepare a poster for the Litter Pick on 25th April. I was particularly chuffed with the one of the bird (yellow wagtail?), who sat very cooperatively framed by the plastic caught in the tree just long enough for me to snap him before my sons scared him off.
Roundhill from a distance
Submitted by Simon on 17 October 2009 - 7:47amI went for a walk last Saturday, from Roundhill to Englishcombe then on to Inglesbatch and Nailwell. As I returned I skirted the edges of West Wood, Middle Wood and Breach Wood. A wrong turn took me a section of the Wansdyke now marked out by a cow trail that is visible from the top of Roundhill. I took these (and many others!) along the way.
