Bat Walk
On Thursday evening, 24th September, the ‘Friends of Roundhill’ group organised a guided Bat Walk with the help of Miriam Woolnough, Countryside Management Officer for Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Miriam started off by giving a brief talk about the type of bats we might see and their preferred habitat. She was able to share amongst the group a number of Bat Detectors that she had brought along with her.
The children in the group were very excited and eager to start their ‘adventure’. Once we had tuned our detectors to the required frequency so that we could hear them we set off and within 2 or 3 minutes we had already picked up the presence of a bat. You could hear them coming before actually seeing them swooping around between the houses. During our walk around the perimeter of Roundhill we had two more encounters, each time the children became more and more excited and vocal. I think the adults enjoyed themselves as well. A thoroughly enjoyable evening!
